Description

This portrait of a young boy with a doe and fruit appears to be of the same sitter as in TN72, John Prideaux Basset (1740–1756), and of a similar date. In the inventory of March 1928, when it hung in the Nursery Corridor, the portrait was attributed to Allan Ramsay, who painted a portrait of John Prideaux Basset when slightly older (TN72, fig. 1). It currently hangs in the nearby family home at Creed.
