Description

This picture of a fishing fleet is typical of Carmichael’s more modest marine paintings. Although the location is unidentified, as with most of Carmichael’s works, it is almost certainly place-specific. A clue is provided possibly by the lighthouse and pier at the extreme left of the composition, which suggests that the setting is probably somewhere along the north-east coast, the location of many of Carmichael’s marine paintings.
