Description
The portrait, as Oliver Millar noted, is a modern copy of the painting by Gerrit van Honthorst at Windsor Castle in the Royal Collection (RCIN 404406), which is also on canvas but on a larger scale (218 x 125 cm). The sitter is William II Prince of Orange (1626–1650), younger brother of Prince Maurice of Orange. He married Prince Mary, daughter of Charles I in 1641.
