Leah Warriner-Wood is an Associate Lecturer in the School of History and Heritage at the University of Lincoln. Trained as a conservator, she has a particular interest in the material culture of historic domestic interiors. Focusing on Doddington Hall, near Lincoln, Leah’s PhD research seeks to characterise the role of tapestry in English country house interiors of the long eighteenth century. Her thesis will show that, far from being merely functional wallcoverings, tapestries participated in the formation and dissemination of elite identities, and thus played a central role in the private and social functions of the country house.
